Zamora Plant
The second installation shared by Sniace is located in Barcial del Barco (Zamora) and belongs to the area of Benavente. This location is perfect both for the supply of cereal and the bioethanol direct mix in the national market.
The plant, whose initial construction date is forecast for the third quarter of 2008, will produce 120,000 tonnes of bioethanol a year from corn. The launch and functioning of the plant are forecast for the second quarter of 2010.
Additionally, there will be an annual production of 140,000 tonnes of DDGS destined to animal fodder.
Sniace through its affiliate Green Source and together with the rest of the shareholders has constituted the society ECOBARCIAL as a vehicle to carry out this project. Green Source has a share of 30% and the goal to reach the highest market rate in the national bioethanol sector.
The largest shareholder in this project is Encalsa (Iberdrola Group). Iberdrola, clearly at the head of renewable energies, has chosen Sniace to be its industrial partner. The project also has the support of Ecoteo, a society that comprises three agricultural and livestock cooperatives and deals with 12,000 partners in Castilla and Leon, a strategic partner that guarantees the continuity of the cereal supply. The Castilla and Leon Committee also takes part in the project through the Agrarian and Technological Insitute of Castilla and Leon (Itacyl), which has a firm commitment to becoming an efficient driving force in the agrarian sector by developing new technologies, the investigation and transfer of scientific advances, favouring the coordination and collaboration with other public or private entities.
The plant will benefit from the most advanced technology regarding the production of bioethanol and will become a strong impetus to the local economy. The energy demand will be supplied by a cogeneration installation of at least 25MWe.
