Solar Power
Solar power is directly obtained from the sun. The solar radiation that falls on the Earth can be exploited, due to its ability to warm up, or directly, through the use of radiation on optical or other devices. It is a clean and renewable energy.
Currently there are two main technologies for the generation of electricity from solar radiation. First, the thermoelectric solar energy that uses the solar radiation to heat up a fluid that is used as a generation source in a conventional thermodynamic cycle. Second, the photovoltaic solar energy that consists of the direct transformation of solar radiation into electricity through photovoltaic cells.
Servyener, a company within the Sniace Group in charge of the electric installations, is building photovoltaic plants and has signed several agreements with photovoltaic panel suppliers. Today there are two plants producing photovoltaic energy; the Hinojedo Plant (56 KWp), the biggest photovoltaic power plant in Cantabria, and the CODIAPAUTO I plant in Eibar Guipuzcoa (39,5 KWp).
